Why Choose Pigeon Netting?

Pigeon netting provides the most comprehensive physical exclusion available. Where spikes are designed to protect linear ledges, netting is the solution for large open areas — the rooftops, balconies, light wells and courtyards where pigeons actually nest and roost in numbers. A properly installed net creates a complete barrier that prevents any bird from accessing the protected space.

Modern pigeon nets are made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) mesh with UV stabilisers to prevent degradation from sunlight. Correctly specified and installed, a pigeon net will last 10–15 years without needing replacement. The nets are lightweight, flexible and available in a range of mesh sizes and colours to suit different applications and aesthetic requirements.

Professional installation is essential. A poorly installed net with gaps, loose sections or improperly secured edges can actually trap birds inside the protected space, causing welfare issues and creating a more serious problem than the original infestation.

Applications for Pigeon Netting

Balconies and terraces

Full net enclosure of balcony openings, including the front, sides and where necessary the ceiling. Access panels can be incorporated for residents to reach the space comfortably.

Courtyards and light wells

Horizontal net canopies spanning the entire width of an internal courtyard or light well, fitted to supporting cables stretched between building walls.

Large roof sections

Netting of flat roof areas or internal roof structures where pigeons nest in large numbers. Net systems for roofs use supporting frames to keep the net taut above the roof surface.

Facades and recesses

Large vertical nets covering recessed facade sections, under-bridge structures and similar protected areas where pigeons congregate.

Industrial and commercial buildings

Warehouse roof spaces, loading bay canopies, outdoor storage areas and similar commercial spaces where large-scale pigeon exclusion is required.

Heritage and listed buildings

We have experience installing netting on historic buildings with sensitivity to the architectural character, using discreet attachments that can be removed without damage.

Our Installation Process

1

Site survey and design

We measure the area to be protected, assess anchor point options, and design a net system tailored to your building's architecture. We specify the mesh size, net colour and fixing system appropriate for the application.

2

Droppings removal first

Before installing any netting, we strongly recommend a professional droppings clean-up. Installing a net over existing droppings traps the hazardous material in the protected space and prevents the necessary decontamination.

3

Net installation

We install anchor points (hooks, wire tensioners, frame sections as required), stretch the support cables and attach the net panels, ensuring there are no gaps or loose edges. All cut edges are sealed or fitted with tension rope to prevent unravelling.

4

Handover and maintenance advice

We demonstrate any access panels, provide care instructions and advise on the annual checks needed to maintain the system in good condition. We also offer annual maintenance contracts for buildings with multiple systems.
